Sotano Ranch
Sotano Ranch is a 160 acre inholding, surrounded on all sides by the Carson National Forest. It sits below Sotano Saddle, about 45 miles south of the Colorado border, among a mix of ponderosa and piñon forest valleys and high mesa views of the Sangre de Cristo, Jemez, and Tusas mountains.
We have been running overnight adventure programs for children since 2011 and are inspired by Richard Louv (“Last Child in the Wilderness”) and others, instinctively understanding that for all the practical uses of cell phones, computers, and the like, they can ultimately inhibit a child’s growth. Place a child in nature for extended periods of time, and that child will learn a new kind of confidence, thriving in an environment that they feel connected to.
